What Bitepoint is

Bitepoint is a diary. You type in your lessons, your pupils and what you were paid, and it keeps them on your phone so you can look them up later. That is the whole job.

What it is not

It does not give tax, legal or financial advice, and nothing in the app is advice. It does not work out what you owe anyone. It does not decide which of your costs count against your tax. It is not connected to HMRC or to your bank. When you need to know what to do about your money or your business, ask someone qualified to tell you.

The records are yours, and so is their accuracy

Everything in Bitepoint is what you typed. The app does not check it, correct it, or go looking for what you left out. A price, a date or a payment that is wrong in the app is wrong because it was entered that way, and putting it right is your job. The totals it shows are added up from those entries and are only ever as good as they are.

Exports

Export everything hands you a file of your own records, in the state you left them. What you do with it afterwards is yours to decide. If you pass it to an accountant, they are the ones who judge what it means and what has to be filed. The file is a record of what you typed. Nobody has checked the figures in it.

Keeping a copy is your side of it

Your diary lives on your device, and your phone’s own iCloud or Google backup may include a copy. We cannot restore it for you, because we never have it. What Bitepoint gives you is a way to export the lot to one file at any moment, and keeping that file somewhere safe is the part we cannot do for you. A phone that is lost or wiped takes the diary with it.

Buying Unlimited pupils

In the Bitepoint apps on the App Store and Google Play, your first five pupils are free. Unlimited pupils is a one-off payment that lets you add as many as you like. It is not a subscription: it does not renew and you are not charged again. The web version has no pupil limit while it is in testing.

Apple or Google takes the payment, under their own terms, and any refund is theirs to decide under their own rules. To ask for one, use Apple’s refund page or Google Play’s refund page. The price is the one the store shows you before you pay.

The purchase belongs to the Apple Account or Google account you paid with. On a new phone signed in to that same account, install Bitepoint and tap Restore purchases in Settings. A purchase made on an iPhone does not carry over to an Android phone, or the other way round.

Your rights under UK consumer law apply to this purchase as well, as set out below. What happens to the details of the purchase is explained on the privacy page.

Where we stand

Bitepoint is offered as it is. We would rather hear about a problem than not, and we fix what we can, but we do not promise the app will be free of faults. Nothing on this page takes away the rights you have under UK consumer law.

Changes

If anything material changes, we will post the update here with a new "last updated" date at the top of this page.
